Kindergarten Registration

 

Please refer to registration criteria (below) for KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION 2013 - 2014

All parents must register their child at their catchment school.*  

 *Exceptions: Sibling registration, Montessori and the Environmental School Project.

 

Acceptance Criteria for Prioritizing Placements for all Registrations

The following criteria will be used to determine order of placement of students. 

  1. Siblings of students already attending desired elementary school (currently in grades K-6)
  2. IN catchment (proof of residence required)
  3. IN catchment daycare (proof of daycare in catchment required)
  4. OUT of catchment without siblings
  5. OUT of district (register at the District Education Office  22225 Brown Avenue, Maple Ridge)

All requests for out of catchment registration will be sent to the District Education Office. The Director of Instruction Elementary will attempt to accommodate all out of catchment 1st choices.

French Immersion

JANUARY 21 - JANUARY 24, 2013 (SIBLING REGISTRATION)
Registration ONLY for students with acceptance criteria 1 (siblings of students already attending the French Immersion school).
Register at the schools that sibling(s) attend. Registration starts at 7:30 am on January 21. Registration start times on other days will be determined by individual schools.

JANUARY 28 - FEBRUARY 01, 2013 
Registration for students with acceptance criteria 2-5. 
All parents must register their child for French Immersion Kindergarten at their French Immersion catchment school. If you want your child to attend a French Immersion school other than your French catchment school, indicate on the registration form the school(s) you wish your child to attend (1st and 2nd choice).  Registration starts at 7:30 am on January 28. Registration start times on other days will be determined by individual schools.

 

Montessori

All parents must register at Hammond Elementary for Montessori. Montessori catchment is the entire district.

JANUARY 28 - FEBRUARY 1, 2013

Registration for students with acceptance criteria 2 - 5.

Year Round Kanaka Creek

Register at Kanaka Creek Elementary. Registration starts at 7:30 am on January 21. Registration start times on other days may vary. Please check with the school.

Registration ONLY for students with acceptance criteria 2 & 3. 
Register at Kanaka Creek Elementary. Registration starts at 7:30 am on January 28. Registration start times on other days may vary. Please check with the school.

FEBRUARY 4 - FEBRUARY 8, 2013
Registration for students with acceptance criteria 4 & 5.
Please register at your catchment school and indicate Kanaka Creek as your first choice. Available spaces will be chosen by random draw from those students who have registered at the end of this period. Registration starts at 7:30 am on February 4. Registration start times on other days may vary. Please check with the school.

 

Environmental School Project

English Catchment School or Another English School

FEBRUARY 4 - FEBRUARY 8, 2013
Registration for students with acceptance criteria 2 - 5.
Students must register at catchment school. If you want your child to attend an English school other than your catchment school, indicate on the registration form the school(s) you want your child to attend (1st and 2nd choice). Registration starts at 7:30 am on February 4. Registration start times on other days may vary. Please check with the school.

 

Out of District Registrations   

 

JANUARY 28 - FEBRUARY 1, 2013

Out of district Kindergarten registration for French Immersion, Montessori, Kanaka Creek, Environmental School. Students who live OUT OF DISTRICT must register at the District Education Office, 22225 Brown Avenue, Maple Ridge.

 

FEBRUARY 4 - FEBRUARY 8, 2013

Out of district Kindergarten registration for English schools. All Kindergarten students who live OUT OF DISTRICT must register at the District Education Office, 22225 Brown Avenue, Maple Ridge. 


Registration Criteria

  1. All students registering for kindergarten must be five years old on or before December 31, 2013.  A birth certificate must be provided to verify this.
     
  2. Every parent registering his/her child must show proof of BC and Canadian residency. To demonstrate BC residency, parents must show evidence of ownership of dwelling or long-term lease or rental of dwelling (e.g., mortgage documents), and a minimum of TWO of the following: legal documents indicating BC residence (e.g., Birth Certificate, Passport Nexus Pass); provincial Driver's Licence (valid with picture); evidence of employment within the community (work permit of 1 year or more); parent or guardian filing income tax return as BC resident.
     
  3. Proof of in-catchment residence. Proof of in-catchment residence must be established with a BC Driver's License AND with ownership of dwelling or long-term lease or rental of dwelling documents (e.g., mortgage documents).
     
  4. If a parent is requesting out-of-catchment school as first or second choice due to daycare,  proof of daycare must be attached to registration form.
